Requirements For Masters In Clinical Research

The growing size and complexity of hospitals, research facilities and laboratories in the medical field relies increasingly on clinical researchers to analyze and diagnose diseases.

Clinical Research

The mission of clinical research is to investigate and determine the efficacy and safety of products intended for improving and maintaining human health like vaccines, drugs, devices, diagnostic agents and treatment regimens. Physicians, nurses, dentists, pharmacists and clinical health professionals research and develop new applications in medical science for prevention, treatment, diagnosis and relieving symptoms of a disease. Medical researchers contribute significantly towards making a difference in regional and nationwide studies concerning chronic toxicities, epidemics and underlying health issues in communities.

Clinical researchers may work independently or even with technical teams to investigate ongoing trends in medical treatments and survey communities; provide critical answers to medical concerns; give peace of mind to patients and family members. In clinical trials, new vaccines, pharmaceuticals, devices and medical procedures as tested which includes investigation carried out to generate information on healthy and diseased human volunteers. The data generated can be used in the treatment, diagnosis, prevention and control of diseases.

Masters in Clinical Research

Aspirants need to fulfil the necessary eligibility criteria when applying for a master’s course in clinical research. Master’s in clinical research helps train medical professionals and non specialists in designing and conducting clinical studies, result interpretation and translation. Completion of a bachelor’s degree is compulsory to pursue a master’s program which may be on-campus or online. The on-campus experience increases professional visibility through community engagement and consistent networking. On-campus courses limits the opportunity to maintain employment due to strict time schedules of the program. Full or part-time professionals can explore online or hybrid programs which meet both professional and personal needs. A hybrid degree combines periodic campus meetings with online components to provide networking opportunities and maintains a personal educational experience. Online and hybrid programs have similar educational standards. Completely online programs offer more manageable and flexible participation in assignments and exam submissions. Regardless of the program, training in clinical research opens gateways into experimental treatments and therapy; drug trials; and opportunity to publish research innovations.

Master’s program requires similar information and applicant details as that of a bachelor’s degree. The applicants need to submit an informative application detailing the address, contact information and reasons for applying. No specific prerequisites or professional experience is required to enter a clinical research program. Some schools encourage aspirants to procure previous volunteer experience in research or medical profession. Accreditation of master’s program declares the quality of education and future employment. Accredited master’s program requires a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institute. Rigorous and flexible masters program in clinical research meets the needs of health professionals engaged in patient-oriented research. The clinical research program is dedicated to the application of knowledge in discovery, research and development pertaining to all areas of clinical research. The aim of clinical research program through formal and practical training is to foster and engage in an effective educational environment and promote the pursuit of outstanding learning.

Master’s in clinical research covers topics of quantitative and qualitative analysis, data collection, research communication and composition. The subjects covered include biostatistics, epidemiology, quantitative analysis, and patient communication or care. For a desired career, specialization can be obtained in global health, drug development or behavioural science. Master’s degree in clinical research gives a competitive edge in job search in a variety of medical institutions. The program is designed for professionals and physicians; research nurses; study coordinators and managers to plan the full spectrum research and oversee translational clinical trials in clinical research and site management organizations (CROs and SROs); pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device industries. Epidemiologists specialize in disease identification, monitoring, testing and suppression of disease outbreaks and life-threatening epidemics in communities while biochemists and microbiologists study various factors related to diseases.
